The Young Adult Ministry is intended to give young adults who are out of high school, between the ages of 18 and 40, a closer relationship with the church, with Genessee family, with our ministries and with other young adults throughout the brotherhood.
This ministry will address the needs of young adults who are attending colleges far from us, who are attending local colleges, who are in the work force, or who are at home. Programs and activities will be developed to address the diverse situations that our young adults face. Other programs and events will address the vast commonality that younger members share as they prepare to take their places in life and in the congregation.
Fellowship will be a strong component of these programs and activities, but so will education, spiritual development, and opportunities to serve. Some things that this ministry will seek to accomplish include:
> Outreach and Evangelism activities
> Travel and visitation to other congregations
> Welcoming visitors from other congregations
> Encouragement of the disconnected
> Attending special events and lectureships
> Sponsoring new state-wide events
> Partnering with other ministries
> Teaching and Mentoring youth
All these activities will serve to carve out a distinct identity within our congregation that will allow our young adult members to shine as they grow in the Spirit.
"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
